STC wins bahrain third mobile license

Saudi Telecom company (STC) has won Bahrain’s third mobile network operating licence with a bid of BHD86.7 million (USD231 million), the country’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced yesterday, breaking the duopoly of state-run Batelco and Kuwaiti-owned Zain. According to Reuters, STC plans to launch its Bahraini operations in the second half of this year and aims to acquire a 20% market share in ten years…

It doesn’t work like that, the mobile penetration in Bahrain is around 150 % and the other thing SYC is targeting Saudi roamer in Bahrain. I think they will do good.
I think I will apply for a job there !!!!!
The question remains, will we get some REAL good deals out of them after launching STC ? ( comon comon , cheaper calls, more benefits and value added services etc … )
Simsim started off with 100 fils/min, now it’s almost 40 fils/min with good deals every now and then. I guess there will be some benefits if not held by TRA.
Again this is not always true, in UAE they have two operators only but they offer better and cheaper services.
Let’s wait and see…

Now I am working as a civil engineer in Mena-Telcom Wi-Max project in Bahrain. Me have well knowledge about Tower installation ( Civil, erection and electrical). So may I know is there any vacancy for me in STC for your Bahrain Project.

In my opinion Batelco is helping STC against Zain. And in return STC agreed not to snatch highly skilled staff from Batelco. So if you work for Batelco then the chances for you to get a job in STC would be tiny

I think STC will take time, becoz unless they dont have there building ready they are not gonna do anything.
