any idea how they will connect to the customer? wireless I guess? cuz the whole dsl from Batelco currently sortve sux and the bitstream access thingy is not going to be ready until june 2007.

and what’s up with this speed? aren’t we able now to go to 2MB atleast? if they go wireless then why dont they push it above 2MB?

    The Wireless is available today…
Thanks to the TRA incompetence is limited to the IFM Band which means the number of clean channels available for wireless is very limited , additionally IP transit costs are very high since the government doesn’t seem to support investors that want to build landing stations in the country…
from my sources in 2connect I know they are planning much better and much faster services as soon as license spectrum is available , they are actually looking at covering the whole GCC.

Their next project are in Saudi and Oman .. Which is supposed to be secret but , What the Hell , people talk …

I’ll get more information by tomorrow …

What you are saying not true Mate…
Iam a Network Administrator within Geomatec that USED Batelco’s Leased line for 4 + years , we had many down times , awful support , and they never sent us a confirmation EMAIL of which they shoudl explain that the cause of the down time was at Batelco’s End …

All of our Projects and Services Running online , A downTime @ our network means us losing projects, clients  & Money …

By the time we shifted to 2connect , everything changed …
Support 24/7 [for any type of inquery] , Speed ? Hell Fast … 1mb & down never had a problem with uploads and downloads … the link is fast and the price is reasonable …
Moreover Our clients stopped complaining about the speed of our services that took them ages to view the main interfaces , which is simply a login form with username and password inputFields … :) Batelco can go to hell …

in addition of what Mohammed Zainal said

even though the lease line down time is because of Batelco most of the cases, they will start charging for the backup line as soon as it goes on! :)
